PAIN MANAGEMENT, HOSPICE AND EUTHANASIA When no treatment will provide a cure, but comfort can be provided to both the pet and family, Dr. Mullen’s veterinary hospice care may be the best option. Like human hospice, pet hospice provides support for the emotional, social, and spiritual needs of the whole family. With pets, hospice recognizes that pets are a part of the family and that everyone suffers when the most helpless of the family is in discomfort and pain. Pet hospice care provides comfort and care to both the pet and their human family members when the end is near or treatment options are unrealistic. Dr. Mullen recognizes that palliative treatment designed to provide comfort for the terminally or chronically ill pet also provides peace of mind for the families that love their pets.
